Blue Desert Series
An abstract, textural exploration of memory, resilience, and the quiet landscapes we carry within ourselves.

Empty Desert
A vast canvas filled with light blue and white sand dunes. Unblended brush work leaves space for introspective interpretation by the viewer.
This is where I let my innerself and child roam free. I often find myself walking here over cool, soft sandy dunes when I commune with my younger self.
This canvas is a look into my peaceful world of unbridled, fearless, childish exploration.
Tricky Pathways
A peaceful path leading deep into the desert. Everything seems calm and safe at first glance.
The blue walls of the dunes line the path, looming over the path. Soft sand make up the sides of the stretching path. A looming threat over those who travel through. This is not a safe or sacred place. Fear of being burried, swallowed whole filled me when I walked this road and now I warn those who find themselves in the same place.
Don’t climb, don’t stop, just walk looking forward. The path will not end but the walls will become solid and safe as you continue forward, as you find your place and calling in your Father’s world.

Climbing Out
An aerial view of harsh dark ridges.
The third place in the series to be discovered. This is a moody and depressing place to get out of for all it’s apparent calm of sweeping dark blue, moon lit sand, made of large brush strokes.
I painted this place as the final piece because it was a place of realization and becoming. A fight for myself and who I always was, saving myself and clawing out of the darkness. It’s a place filled with wanting love and paralyizing fear.
I still find myself trying to dig my way out of the gloomy sand that floods in like water in a sinking ship, but then she appears, the one I always knew would come to save me. She’s a lot smaller and younger than me, but sometimes when I look in the mirror I see her smilling back at me.
